Kentucky Fried People
Boone Helm “became known for his heavy drinking, riding his horse into the house, and beating his wife.”
Boone Helm was born on January 28, 1828, in Lincoln County, Kentucky. He eventually became one of the country’s most feared cannibals. Long story short, Boone was completely insane, had no sense of morality, and cared neither for other people’s lives or his own.
This true story takes place in the American Wild West era and is quite gruesome.
Early-On Signs of Craziness
Boone was brought up in what was considered a well-to-do, hardworking, and honest family. He had 12 siblings. During his early childhood, he moved with his family to Missouri on the Western Frontier.
There, Boone became accustomed to the rowdiness and public disturbances that were common in the local communities. He grew up a violent alcoholic and would start a fight for almost any reason. Having beaten up a bunch of the locals for sport, Boone became interested in feats of strength — in his own mind, he was a man’s man, albeit an insane one.
He occasionally amused bystanders by throwing his Bowie knife onto the ground and riding past it on his horse at full speed, managing to pick it up without falling off.
