An IDEA: Creative Process
In my last article, I wrote about my process when, well, writing an article…
But how do you know what to write about? You have lots of ideas flowing around your head. It might as well explode.
Do you take the following things into consideration?
Is this suitable for the political climate?
Are similar topics trending?
Will people care?
Well, I don’t care about any of those things.
In the end, you can only write YOU. So don’t be too concerned with what other people think. Yes, this applies even if you write News pieces.
So how do I decide what to write about? It’s simple, I write it all out. I write 7 or 8 articles as very rough drafts. I don’t even worry about spelling — ignoring poor Grammarly.
Then I use Peace Of Mind as a technique taught to me at a Shaolin Temple. Just kidding, I found it myself — feel free to steal it.
So how does it work? Well, after I wrote stuff, I sometimes have contradicting thoughts. I look at my article (1 of the 7) and I think to myself, “Maybe it should go in this direction. Don’t mention point 1; do mention point 1”. Then I have ideas about writing it a whole different way. If I’m not clear on it, it was not what I wanted to write.
So 1 of the articles, sometimes 2, I have no misgivings about. I have no contradicting thoughts, no further ideas. I have faith that I can write them beautifully and informatively. AND, usually, I’m very excited to write them. Like, take a CELEBRATORY walk in the park before I even wrote them, kind of excited.
I don’t actually do that. However, when I get over myself, I write them. And they usually turn out pretty well.
Well, that’s all folks. Hope you have a nice day.
